At the beginning of this documentary there is the implication of drink driving, which would show rebelious behaviour and have an effect on the audience as it is agains the law to drink and drive. Another problem is the three girls at lunch time, they get their dinner and hardly eat anything and then go to the toilets and try to make themselves sick. This is a bad influence to the audience because it suggests anerexia and some of the audience might get the idea to do the same thing. There are some breif shots of nudity in the gym showers and the occasional bit of bad language.
In the middle of this documentary we get to know more about two of the male students at this school. we briefly see them walking into the school dressed in army gear, carrying bags that appear to be full of something. This could imply war being declared or maybe to an outsider just a school activity, as we do not know the details by this point. This is where the first peice of bad language is used. We are then shown them both at a house, receiving a delivery. A knife is used to open the box and a gun is pulled out. This would be a shock to the audience and have the implication of violence as they test the gun out in the garage.
For the most part of this documentary i would rate it at a 12, as there is some short clips of nudity and also bad language.

Night Mail 1936

In the opening of this film the graphics are very basic, its black and white ( this could signify that it is an old film), sharp edges and not alot going on. It has the feeling of an action film but it isn't. The writing is not very clear which would signify that the graphics were not at there best at this time. The titles after the opening title is like old fashioned text which also helps with the age of the film. For this film there is quite a veriaty of shots used. Long shots are used mainly containing the train lines with the train on them. Mid shots are usually used to focus on the people a worms eye shot is used on the signal man to make him seem important to what he is doing and to what is going on. Close ups are used to show the small plates my the leavers in the signalmans hut. For the voice over it is mainly a narrator tellin you what s going on giving you facts about what happens and how things are done. there is some diagetic sound at the start of the film which is instructions to another man on when the train left n how much it is carrying. There is also a wild track added which is the sound of the train and people talkins and shouting in the background.

Kurt and Courtney
Film LanguageFor this piece there are a variety of shots used. These are Establishing shot, long shots, close ups, panning and zoom. In some shots the camera is help hand but in others it is static. For some parts the editing is quicker than others but mostly slow.
Documentary Techniques
This particular piece contains a lot of interviews, these are with Kurt's aunty, a teacher at his local school. there is also archive footage of an interview with kurt Cobain himself. there is a voice over through out this documentary as the narrator has to give information about Kurt. We are aware of the documentary maker as some of the time he stands infornt of the camera, talking to people.
Sound
Within this piece there are a few different types of sound used. Music is added to add tension and make the audience keep wondering or to help them realise what is going on. There is also a voice over to explain to the audience what is going on and why these things are going on. In some cases the image does relate to what the voice over is saying but some other occasions it does not relate to anything that is being said.

Aileen, the life and death of a serial killer.

In this Film there are a variety of shots used these are long shot, mid shot, close ups, establishing shot, mid close up. The close ups are used to show facial expressions aspecially with Aileen when she is being interviewed. There is different content within the shots as archive pieces are used, (e.g old videos of aileen being interviewed many years before, clips from the other movie that was made.) We are introduced to a few characters throughout this film Aileen being the main one as the whole story is about her. Aileen's lawyer, Nick Broomfeild ( the film maker), Dr legal, Dawn Bockins (Aileen's best friend). In this film they would be the main characters because they are all a part of Aileen's case. The soundtrack for this piece is a mixture of different pieces. It consists of dia-getic sound, music and some sound effects. There are extra peices added into this film to help the audience believe it eg. true video futage, adverts in papers and on the news. It also shows the live courtcase of Aileen being sentences to death, and interviews with Aileen about the killings she has made.

During Etra et avoir for the outside shots a long shot dominates, but for the inside shots mid shots and close ups dominate. In the outside shots there is alot of long cuts of the surrounding area. There are a couple of establishing shots made of the school and the area around it. In the school there are alot of shots of the teacher talking to the students, close ups of the students faces as they talk to the teacher. In the first part of the film we are introduced mostly to the teacher and JoJo. The main focus is on JoJo because he has a very short attention span and he doesn't always focus on his work as much as he should. He also has a close relationship with the teacher so focusing on JoJo and the teacher more than any of the other students would show this relationship. For the sound track the music is only played when they camera is focusing on the outside world, but when it is in the classroom there is no music as there is people talking.
In Etra et avoir all the shots are very long. Compared to other films we have watched, it has the smallest amount of shots in it. In Dog Town and the Z-Boys there are a lot more shots in it and they are shorter shots. With some parts of this film there are still images and when the sound track is being played the pictures flick to the beat of the music. Some of the shots flick through interviews and don't last long at all, where as in etra et avoir there aren't any interviews just watching the teacher talking to his pupils. The form of this film shows that the community is closely knitted together and quite poor. However in Dog Town and the Z-Boys even though it is also a closely knitted together community, it has a different atmosphere to it than in etra et avoir. In Dog Town and the Z-Boys the people (surfers) are not calm chilled out people so therefore the form of the film making is not going to be as calm as etra et avoir. They would both have different audiences, because if you were to get the audience for dog town and the z-boys and make them watch etra et avoir they will find it borig as they will be used to watching more up beat films with alot of music in it n alot more excitement.
